Parli Vaijnath Temple, also known as Parli Vaidyanath Temple is located in Parli, Maharashtra, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas dedicated to Lord Shiva. Vaijnath Jyotirlinga is also called Dhanavantari or Amruteshwari. Its Parli Vaijnath Temple timings are 5 am to 9 pm.
Parli Vaijnath Temple

History of Vaijnath Mandir
The story of Parli Vaijnath Temple was constructed in the late 1700s. It was been restored through the reign of Queen Ahilyabai Holkar of the Maratha Malwa kingdom.
There are two myths related to the temple. One myth is about the elixir, and the other is about the demon King Ravana and his search to become the god of Shiva.
Legend of the Amrit
Samudra Manthan Samudra Manthan. The steam boiler was the milky ocean, and 14 gems came out which included Vish Amrita.
The gods and devils swirled around the sea and fought to find the holy elixir 14 gems were uncovered out of the process. This comprises Dhanavantari along with Amrit.

Because this is the place where the gods were able to receive their nectars, the town became known as Vyjayanthi and the temple was renamed Parli Vaijnath.
Ravana and the Shivalinga Purana
The demon King Ravana executed a severe penance to be pleasing Lord Shiva and was executed. Shiva impressed b his act of sacrifice offered his devotees many blessings. Ravana demanded Shiva visit Lanka.
The Lord was in agreement and instructed Ravana to collect his Shivalinga and warned him against keeping it in any place until he arrived at his destination.
Ravana was looking to rest after the way and asked that a shepherd take his linga over to the shepherd. Not knowing God's order the shepherd dropped his penis and sat down for a short time. So God was in the same place and was later named Vaidyanath.
