Shree Shamlaji Vishnu Mandir can be found in natural beauty gardens along the River Meshwa, Aravalli District of Gujarat. Shamlaji Temple Timings: 6 AM to 8.30PM.

It was originally called Harishwachandra Puri. The ancient Shyamalaji Temple makes it famous among Lord Krishna and Lord Vishnu devotees.


 


Shamlaji Temple

Sakshi Gopal or Gangadhar was the temple's black image of Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu was worshipped at this temple. It is one of the major pilgrimages in India that Lord Krishna devotees can make.

Shamlaji is Lord Krishna's second name. Shamlaji Temple, one of the rare temples dedicated to Lord Krishna, is where Lord Krishna is worshipped as the preserver, and the cow idol is worshipped in this temple. Here, a white flag is displayed at Dholi Dhajawala.

 

 

What's the Story Behind the Shree Shamlaji Vishnu Mandir?

Legend has it that Lord Brahma discovered Shamlaji while searching for the most sacred spot on Earth. Lord Brahma practiced penance for over 1000 years.

Lord Shiva was happy with his penance and asked him for Yagya. Thus, Lord Vishnu arrived in the form of Shamlaji.

Another story is about Vishwakarma, an architectural god who built a temple in this area one night but had to leave before he could take it. A Vaishnavite then built a temple here and erected an idol, which has been restored many times since.

For many years, the Shree Shamlaji Vishu Mandir has been managed by the Jain community. Madhuri Rao Saheb, along with Devdar Napada Khalsa Sansar Revdar and Modhari, received the Shyamalaji Temple from the rulers of Idar.

An ancient quadrangular idol representing Lord Vishnu is found in the temple. The idol was erected by King Harishchandra.

Shree Shamlaji Vishnu Mandir Architecture

Although the exact date of construction has yet to be determined, it is believed that this temple was built around 500 years ago.

Shamlaji Temple is a two-story structure supported by a series of pillars made of white sandstone or brick.

The outer wall of the temple was carved with Mahabharata and Ramayana events. It is approximately 320 feet tall. At the entrance to the temple, there are two large elephant statues and the beautiful idols of Lord Krishna and Vasudev.

It is situated on a foundation high enough to support it. The temple features an open square on its four sides. The four levels of the belt can be seen by devotees: the first is lion's ornaments with a lion's mouth and the second is elephant skin. This is mentioned in other Mahabharata events and Ramayana events.

They may have been from the 6th or earlier century, and are located near Shyamlaji & Devni Mori.

These idols include Lord Shiva and Lord Vishwa as well as Lord Vishnu, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Vishnu.

Shamlaji temple's opening hours are 6 AM to 12:30 PM, and 2:05 PM to 8:30 PM. Darshan and Aarthi can be taken by devotees at any hour.

Shree Shamlaji Vishnu Mandar is a popular pilgrimage site for devotees to Lord Vishnu or Lord Krishna in Gujarat.

Many festivals such as Tulsi Wedding and Vasantha Panchami were celebrated with joy and devotion, including Janmashtami (Dashehara), Sharad Purnima, Holi, Rama Navami, and Raksha Trij.

Every year, the festival of lights takes place here on the full moon night in the month of Karthika.

The best time to visit is the full moon; thousands of pilgrims come here every day and feel the magic of the fair.

Samlaji had organized a large fair on the full moon in the months of, Maha and Shravan.

Shamlaji No May, Shamlaji No Meadow or Shamlaji No May is another name for the full moon fair during Karthika. Many devotees come to the Shamlaji Temple every year to receive blessings from Lord Shamlaji.

 

Highlights

Bala Gopal is the main idol here, which was painted by Lord Vishnu. It was the only temple in India where Lord Vishnu's main idol had been worshipped alongside the cow idols.

Cow idols are a representation of Vishnu's childhood as a shepherd. Shamlaji had listed one hundred fifty-four of the most prominent Hindu places to worship in India.

Shamlaji Temple hosts the annual fair on October 15, Karti Suji's day.

Many devotees come from all parts of the country to pray and receive blessings from Vishnu through this temple.
