Bannari Amman Temple

The villager's shed was constructed that contained a plant called "Kanangu" The thatched roofs were replaced with tiles for ceilings. Villagers raised funds from philanthropists and the villagers repaired the temple's structure and constructed the dome that is on top of the sanctuary.

A British official from the department of forests refused to permit the public to trim trees in preparation for the Kundam festival. In the next moment, he began to experience diarrhea and vomiting. He was aware of his error and asked the goddess to be merciful to him.

His health is restored by holy ashes and the water that is brought by the temple. Then he allowed people to remove trees to make way for the celebration.

Significance

The temple is located to the south and is surrounded by thick forests, and has a wealth of vegetation to the north, south, and west. The mountain range and the backdrop of hills are a nice touch to the temple of the goddess.

In the vicinity of the temple, animals like elephants, wild boars deer, bears, and monkeys live in the forest surrounding. Beautiful peacocks as well as a variety of birds are also seen in the area.

The main festivals that are celebrated in the temple include The Golden Chariot Festival, the Kundam Festival, the donation of water that is yellow, and The Thiruvillakku Puja along with the Maru Puja. Instead of the sacred ashes, the sand that was in the mound was used in the form of an offering.

The god of the temple is Swayambhu Murthy. There are many pujas performed to celebrate Kalashanthi, Uchikalam, Sayaratchai, and Arthasamam.

Women participate in this Thiruvilakku festival on the final Friday of each Tamil month. Many worshippers of South India flock here to worship the goddess with the utmost respect.

History of Bannari Amman Temple

In earlier times, Tamil Nadu had five divisions, known in the name of Chera Nadu, Chola Nadu, Pandya Nadu, Thondai Nadu as well as Kongu Nadu. Kongu Nadu is located in the west of Tamil Nadu.

Forests, mountains, and rivers provide beauty to this fertile landscape. Bannari is located on the northwestern frontier of Kongu Nadu. In recent times, it has turned into an ideal destination for pilgrims as people from across the globe come to this location.

The temple is located in front of it The Shobhana Mandapam was constructed in 1967, with 24 pillars that were carved into the beautiful sculptural design.

The Artha Mandapam and the Maha Mandapam and the Shobhana Mandapam improve the beauty of the temple.

There are special temples within and around the temples for gods such as Ganesha, Bommairayan, Madeshwara Sarugu Mariamman, and Muniyappa.

The Bommarayan Temple is on the west side of the Artha Mandapam, and the front of the Ganesh Temple is on the east side.

The Goddess Mateshwaran sits upon a slab on the south side of the temple. A small temple lies to the west and is built by Sarugu Mariamman close to the temple's water pond. The temple's dedication took place on the second day of the month.

There is a huge pit in the west of the temple's water pond. The water that flows through the pit is only there during the season of monsoon. Other times, the water doesn't stop there.

On the left-hand side of the path leading to the temple, the pond has an idol of the goddess Vandimuniyappar. The Chola clan pays a remarkable tribute to this god in the celebration of Amma.
