  One of the Union Territories lies somewhere between Maharashtra, Gujarat and India. Dadra and Nagar Haveli. It is located on the west coast of India. It has two parts. Gujarat surrounds Dadra, while Nagar Haveli straddles the Maharashtra & Gujarat border. It is a popular tourist spot for both locals and tourists. It is heaven on earth, with its long, green stretches, surrounded by a variety of floral beauties and babbling rivers, as well as the charming silhouette of mountain ranges shrouded in mist, Dadra and Nagar Havelis.






Nagar Haveli and Dadra Festivals:

The beauty of the region is breathtaking, but another attraction is the joyous celebrations that take place here.


Although this urbanized territory celebrates Christmas and New Year, the traditional roots are still planted among the locals. Hindu and Muslim festivals share fun and joy. Some celebrate Milad without work while others celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi. Milad is celebrated to thank the great prophets by helping the poor. Chaturthi is marked by the carrying of the idol and a grand procession.


The locals of Nagar Haveli and Dadra celebrate the Monsoon Magic Festival in July or August. There are many small, quirky festivals and fairs organized by the tourism department in the region. Monsoon Magic is one of them. Rain is a powerful force that shatters dry souls. It also brings greens and flowers to Nagar and Dadra areas. The festival includes activities like Monsoon Trekking and Monsoon Cross Country Run, as well as Monsoon Jalsa and Raga.


Another festival in December is Tarpa. It is named after the extravagant folk dance of the local tribes. The festival includes folk dance, swimming races and rangoli.


The National Tribal Art and Food Festival is held mid-year in May. The festival celebrates the fusion of different tribal arts and the art of many delicious eye-candy dishes. Here, delicious tribal food and a wide range of art can express themselves.


A craft fair is held in November that showcases handmade homeware pieces. However, the Kite Festival takes place in early January. Each household sets up various kites and takes off into the open sky. Kite flying is open to all.


Coconut Purnima is another festival where a coconut is offered as a sacrifice to the Almighty. It is usually done by fishermen and water related people to seek protection from God. It is open to all for celebration. Coconuts are considered sacred. A pooja is followed by exhilaration. This is the day when Raksha Bandhan is celebrated. Sisters and brothers pray for each other's well-being.


Other tribal festivals include Worli and Kokna, where Diwali is celebrated as Barash, while Akha-Tiz is only for females of the Kona tribe. The Dhodias tribe is well aware of Diwas, Bello and other festivals.


Dadra and Nagar Haveli are religiously tolerant territories. They shelter a wide variety of people from Hindus to Muslims and Christians and this union territory celebrates all religions.
