Santhome Church in the city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, is of great architectural importance due to its neo-Gothic style, wooden ceilings with arched windows and arched arches, as well as pure white domes that add to the beauty of the church. There is a belief that the dead bones of the Apostle St. Thomas is buried at this location. A group of Nestorian Christians established the throne of San and built a church in the area, which was demolished in the 14th and 15th centuries. That was the time when the Portuguese took the remains of the apostle and built a new tomb. By 1606 the church had risen to cathedral status.

Brahmins and Jews have historically occupied this place. The apostle was a preacher and began proselytizing here. The small church originally built is still in use, but adjustments were made to the site and surroundings in the 17th century when it was deemed necessary.
